Some simple rules to the Ring Test:
1. You must be a female AND pregnant. (Sorry Sean.)
2. Only a male can perform the test. If a woman can pull another woman onto her cycle just by hanging out, then you don't want to mix that power with the natural motion of the Ring.
3. The father cannot perform the test. It must be a neutral party.
4. You must use the father's wedding band. (It should be without stones. It really should be without stones!)
Looping the wedding band onto a long piece of thread, you hold it still and wait for the string to unwind. (Notice in all the pictures how he holds his wrist steady with his other hand.) It can take a few minutes or just a few seconds before it starts to move, but once it gets going, it really cooks. If it moves in a circular motion, it's a girl. Swinging back and forth, like a pendulum, is a boy. It's one of the most incredible sites.
If you or a loved one would like to have a Weaver perform the ring test for you, stop on by. Every autumnal equinox we have a tent set up in the backyard where we perform the test, sacrifice a goat, and eat grilled cheese sandwiches, while listening to the melodies of 4 Non Blondes. If we aren't there, just wait longer. We're probably just getting more cheese.
