Like, Happy Halloween!

Nora's first Halloween was a great success! She rocked as an 80's Aerobic Instructor and kept up with the pack of neighborhood trick or treaters, as she is now officially walking everywhere! Her high tops slowed her down some but she pushed through and was up for a good sweat.
We headed over to our neighbor's house for some pizza before suiting up. They are a fun family of 6 who know how do it RIGHT! Ryan and Laura reversed gender roles in an awesome representation of sworn Dodgeball enemies. They had some of the kids driving a mini 4x4 leaving their mark at every house we hit!
Before setting out in our quest for candy, Chris thought it was prudent that he and Nora do some stretching. We didn't want her glutes to give out or a weak hammy to shut down the fun. Chris also wanted to scare some of the kids...and adults too. Those were some deep stretches. We all held our breath, practically blinded by the glare shooting off his white thighs. Little did we know, those shorts had a liner.
Regrouping from that near traumatic event, I made sure Nora was fully hydrated and off we went.
She got the hang of it right away and started collecting fistfuls of candy for her parents to consume.
Towards the end of the night, Laura started testing the candy "for safety purposes". It's not a pretty job, but somebody had to.
This was such a fun night for our family. It was the first thing that we have all done together where I feel like Nora was actually really into it. Bless her sweet heart, she wore that headband all night long. I think we have started a new tradition for Nora that I hope will carry on for the next several decades: Wearing makeup once a year OR for costume purposes only.

Yea, You're Normal!

I was about to write a post with some pics of time spent with family recently, and then this post sort of took a different turn. I'm sure most assume that when you have kids, life gets a little duller on Friday nights. We try to resist the urge to become too routine. If you need to give your life a jolt out of the norm, here are some ideas we have come up with:

Feed your baby chili. Then let animals clean her off. Makes for an interesting night and possibly following morning.

Try out the weight limit on some park equipment.

Plan an arranged marriage for you child and get started on the brainwashing. Nora meet Jones. Is it a coincidence these names seeming go so well together? I think not.
Encourage your guests to feed your dogs a cracker and see if they ever come back.

Let/force your daughter to tickle your whispies (aka armpit hair).

When your child is getting into too much trouble before dinner time, give them a cooking lesson.
Visit relatives. These happen to my great neices...my brother's grandkids...so Nora's 2nd cousins...I think.
Wear jorts. Anywhere. You can never go wrong.
I realize this post really should have been divided into several small, more interesting, mini posts over the last 2 months, like a normal blog might be. I'll get working on normal later. Right now, I'm busy.
