Just another day with Ruckus...

4 pack of dog bones $6
Bone removal, vet visit $150

A heavily sedated Brittany Spaniel... priceless

Well the day started out with a little commotion. I was just about to jump in the shower when I heard Ruckus wimper, a sound I had never heard from him before. I found him laying on the bed with one of his old round bones stuck on his lower jaw. It wasn't just stuck, he had somehow forced it over his 2 huge canine fangs and it was locked in place. At first I thought "How ridiculous is this?" Then I tried to get it loose and he started to freak out. So I called our neighbor across the street, who has several dogs, and asked if she would come and hold him still so I could get it. So she came over and after we tried and tried and he started to freak out even more, she called the other neighbor because she thought he might have some kind of tool to saw it off. So then he came over and gave it a shot, he even slathered some Vaseline around his chin. Well by now his gums were starting to bleed, his chin was swelling, and he was going nuts shaking his head and scratching at it trying to push it off. So i got the crate and put it the back of the car and loaded him up and took him to the vet. Apparently this was the first case they had seen like this and they told me they would sedate him and get it off, and they would call me in about an hour. It didn't take that long and I was back to pick him up. The vet admitted she was about to call someone to borrow a drill but once he was sedated and they applied a steroid to the swollen area, they were able to slide it off. So no more round bones for Mr. Ruckus, who has been passed out most of the day. I think I'll take this opportunity to clean his ears :)
