"O" DATE

As you may know Meghan and I began ABC dating during our first year of marriage and continue to work our way through the alphabet. It was my turn to plan the "O" DATE. The idea of ABC for us has always been creativity at a minimal cost. It took awhile to plan the perfect date and it was only after my latest read on becoming a father that I came up with this osome idea...."Oops I Peed My Pants"! After work last Friday we set off on our date starting with Olive Garden for dinner (Cost=$0.00, Gift Card). After demolishing twenty bread sticks, four key glasses of water, two bowls of salad, one lasagna, and one eggplant parmigiana we were off to the next place....Walgreen's. We picked up a Redbox DVD (Cost=$0.00, Promo Code, Boom!). I have already forgotten the title. Some lame movie with Hugh Grant and Jessica Sarah Parker, a witness protection program, bears, a horse suit, and cowboy hats. Next stop, the incontinence aisle. What to choose, oh what to choose? As a 31 year old male adult with a seemingly strong prostate, I never knew it would be so difficult to pick out some adult diapers.

The key was finding a full-size adult diaper in unisex style, with a comfortable hip size for both of us while maintaining a discreet fit with total leakage protection and odor control. So naturally we went with Certainty brand, complete with easy pull off and on design. It was comparable to the more well known Depends brand.(Cost=$8.21)

Oh and did I mention we went with max super plus absorbency? I would equate these to pouring a gallon of skim milk into your pocket and never seeing the milk again, nor even knowing you just poured a gallon of milk into your pocket. It's like a really neat magician's disappearing act. Only a little warmer and slightly heavier.

After we got home we put on our diapers just like normal people would put on underwear...except of course, we were wearing diapers. We grabbed two bottles of water and the DVD then headed to the pool house for a night of amusement and uncertainty. Actually, the only certain thing is I knew that I wouldn't have to get up during the movie to use the bathroom. I had that covered.

You see the idea for the "O"Date, or "Oops I Peed My Pants" was to prepare ourselves for parenthood. To see really how bad or how good it feels to have a wet diaper. To understand what our future little one is going to experience on a day to day basis. The rest of the story is just like you can imagine it. I won't go into too much detail except to say that it was a long movie, we drank lots of water, and neither Meghan or I got up once. You know this may just be the way to roll from here on out......and all for only a little over eight bucks.

Don't knock it till you try it because peeing in your pants is cool. Especially when you are wearing max super plus absorbency adult diapers. Nothing's getting in, and for sure, nothing's getting out.

Images From the Inside

Our 20 week appointment was great and we got to take a look at our adorable child that somewhat resembles a human. I have rotated and labeled these pictures mostly for my own benefit. Every time I look at the images I have to relax my eyes, stand back, and then BOOM, the hidden image of a baby appears. I know most people don't want to spend all day playing that game, so I've dumbed it down for all of us. Enjoy!

About the size of a cantaloupe and currently weighing in at 13 oz, Baby Weave is developing nicely. Thank you so much for all your prayers!

Just Like Daddy

It's 5am and I can't sleep. This is the first of many nights, I'm sure, that the baby will wake me and not let me fall back asleep. The baby has been kicking up a storm these past few days, no doubt preparing for the big show which is taking place in a few short hours. Our second (and final) sonogram! I felt the first poke from our little one while upside down in my prenatal yoga class. I was a few days shy of 17 weeks. According to books and expert friends and family, that was pretty early. Some people asked if I was sure that I was really feeling the baby. I was sure. At 12 weeks, while trying to hear the heartbeat through the static of kicks, the doctor commented on how active the baby was and then scribbled in his notes something about a great personality and acute comedic timing. So last night (instead of watching another episode of Dexter), we were laying in bed reading our baby books. I was reading the Baby Whisperer and Chris was deep into Bill Cosby's Fatherhood, books we checked out from the Bryan Library. (Bryan as in Courtney Bryan, not the Episcopal High School Bryan Library. That would be weird.) Anyway, that's when the baby really started socking it to me. On this momentous occasion, not only was the baby not pulling any punches, but Chris actually had the patience to put his hand on my belly for more than 10 seconds. That's when he felt a slam to the ute. Incredible!
Above: This is how I picture my baby right now, winding up for another punch. Good form kiddo, but keep that other hand up by your cheek. (pic courtesy of Weaver Baby Album.)

The baby woke me with another round of kicks early this morning, and that's OK, because I know he or she is just as excited as I am that today marks 20 weeks...the halfway point. I tried to go back to sleep but then it dawned on me, I am carrying a "mini-Weaver". Based on the stories I've heard from the entire Weaver clan and from Chris himself, as I child he was no walk in the park. (Or as Dikembe Mutombo, the Nigerian NBA player would say "No walk in the cake".) Apparently young Chris was a bit of a handful/spitfire. Uh-oh. Well instead of letting my mind wander from one Weaver childhood horror story to the next, I focused on all the reasons I am thrilled this baby could be just like their daddy. What better way to celebrate/justify this notion than with photos from Chris' childhood. (I hope the sound of the scanner doesn't wake him.)

Based on what I know to be true about my husband now, these pictures demonstrate that our baby could...

be an animal lover, and maybe a fighter.

be adventurous, with a love for the great outdoors.

be pretty.

have nice legs and a sense of humor.

be strong and from Jacksonville.

love ridiculous costumes at an early age, and REALLY not care what anyone thinks.

I have a feeling I'm going to love this baby just as much as I love their wacked out dad.

Preemptive by Meghan's Cousin

One of my favorite cats in SoCal is also an author. Meghan's cousin, Doug Grant, just had his first novel published. Preemptive is a great story with a unique twist and interesting character involvement. The Weavers highly recommend Preemptive, so everyone be sure to give it a read. You can get it on Amazon.com. Check out the reviews.

A little background on the author...Cool dude who loves to chill. Doug is a talented author, great teacher, loves both kids and clowns, not such a good gamer, but makes up for it with his mean Grandma's Grinders.

Seriously...check out Preemptive. Great book!
